I wasn’t able to secure a copy of TwERK, but I was able to receive some photos of some of the poems from the reading. Although I understand I only have a small sample of the discussion material, I think I’m still at a bit of a loss at what TwERK is trying to get at, “¡cucumber!” and “trail mix” in particular. One of the poems that I was able to read that caught my attention the most however was “have you forgotten any personal property?”. At first I was a bit confused as to how I would read it but I soon developed a sort of “rhythm” as if it was a song, ‘dummy check” or “dummy check dummy” establishing the flow of the rest of the line after the space in-between the two parts of a single line. Although I wasn’t able to gleam deeper insight into the meaning or purpose of the poems, “have you forgotten any personal property?” has partially increased my awareness of form for what the final project will look like.
Something that I had started to think about when discussing with my partner from the VIS class was the technical breakdown/knowhow of audio editing and elements I would need to accomplish with some of the parts of my project. As much as I’d love to play with sound effects like music and radio static, I realized how much I don’t have the technical knowhow to implement certain things into my piece. Despite this, I think a way to remedy this technical limitation would be to increase the quality of what I can record/implement: either using a stronger array of voices or by just changing the way I would orally perform in my recording. I think the project overall is still a bit intimidating but I’m still excited into seeing where things will go.
