I have now spoken with my partner in VIS 147A. He seems nice, although he is still a bit lost on the project. Which is fair, since this is an unusual project. We will meet up again next week to discuss our progress and secure a location to place the radio. I am still debating between my dorm room or Asante Hall, although other locations can work. My piece does not really tie into any specific place, so it can go anywhere on campus, so long as I have permission. But those two places are some of the most personal to me, so ideally one of them would be best. But I am still deciding and will talk with my partner some more before I decide.
Anyways, I have not done all that much revising so far with my project. I have notes and still want to go through the rest of the many comments I got. But this past week has been hectic, which has made it hard to focus and just write and revise. I mean, with professors and students getting arrested, classes canceled, and a strike looming, editing this piece seems almost trivial. Then there are midterms and an election in my club (I won!). So all in all, it has been busy for me.
Now, what to do for this final piece. Most of the stuff I have already discussed last week. Probably one thing I will do is just use different voices instead of getting different people, since I am not comfortable enough with organizing something like that. Plus, I don’t know enough people.
Besides this, I need to find audio files of static for dead channels. Maybe also some music, just to put in a few music channels. Possibly other background noises for different channels. But I still need to work more on my current piece first before I go searching for all of this. I need to get an idea of what I want each channel to sound like. And to do that, I need to play around some more. So that is what I will be doing. Playing around with what I write and testing out different voices for each channel. Once that is done, the rest should fall together. And then, my project will be ready.
