Radio Chthulucene 87.9 FM

I met with my Vis-Arts partner Cuong late last week and we were able to touch base with where we’re at relative to the project. He seems like a good guy and I’m glad we were able to establish communication before both of us delve too deep into our respective parts of the project. Right now, our most probable spot for the project’s location is the staircase that connects Geisel and Sixth college. We think that the spot is just far enough from Library Walk that we won’t crowd other projects situated there but not too far that we don’t get any foot traffic at all. I like the area, I walk through it multiple times per week and think that it’s a great spot for our project. My only concern with this area is that I’m afraid that people stopping to listen to our project could interrupt the flow of people through the staircase, thus causing traffic jams.

As for my end of the project, I think I have a solid idea of where to take it. I’m planning to make a song that involves two languages. For the rough draft I am probably going to repeat the same lyrics that I wrote in English in another language, but for the final draft I might modify the other language. The languages I’m considering using are either Tagalog or Spanish, as I am the most confident in my abilities to speak either of those two languages. I already recorded the guitar track and have an idea of where I want to take the melody. I just need to figure out what the actual lyrics are going to be.

After searching for what felt like forever, I was finally able to get myself some excerpts of TwERK. Perhaps it’s due to the lack of context from the rest of the book, but the excerpts I managed to get do not make any sense to me. They involve many languages and ideas that sometimes feel disorganized. Perhaps this book is an exercise in form/language variation rather than actual messaging. That would make the most sense from what I’ve seen.
