Week 8 – Meeting Place

It’s shocking how quickly the quarter has progressed. It felt like I had just written my piece and gotten feedback on it in class, and now we’re in our final stages of finishing up this project!

My partner Bri and I have been plotting our location, and I think we’re left with some solid hopes for where/what our project will manifest into.

Bri and I’s first meeting was at Copa Vida. I ordered an iced vanilla latte, I think she might’ve gotten the same. As I waited for my drink, my phone lit up with a text from faceless Bri “I’m here, just waiting for my drink :)” I smiled as I said loudly, looking around, “Is there a Bri in here?” and the girl in front of me turned around.

This blind meeting strategy was fun, it’s nice to have some anonymity to your conversations, and to not know who it is that you’re going to meet until you actually get to the spot. We had a lovely discussion over our iced coffees, and she showed me the little parts to the mp3 player and other hardware that would be used in the radio project. I was also able to show her my piece, which led us to discuss where to put our radio. We talked about how cars and travel were a common theme and pondered ways we could put it by the road that separates Sixth and Muir. It was difficult to find outlets and a protected area that we could trust with leaving a radio apparatus with, so we discussed putting our radio in Peterson Hall, maybe by a window, to have a similar effect but while still being protected from the elements.
