Radio Chthulucene 87.9 FM

Update on what I did last week in order to progress towards the end of my project.

I had initially wanted to set up my radio station at the BCB coffee cart in Revelle Plaza, just because I liked the scenery with the green grass and the fountain — I had originally planned to link those to my narration within my piece. However, my connections within the coffee cart were unable to get me permission, so very last minute I established my location to be in my dorm room. I spent a lot of time in there and the area in mourning, so I thought it was a bit perfect how everything worked out.

I had the chance to meet with my partner, and although I know we were instructed to not accept the radio stations from our Vis partners, I did so because I wanted to set it up in my room, which I am not too comfortable with having a stranger in there. However, if things get rocky on my end, I will probably end up asking my Vis partner to help, even if the location is in my room. Hopefully there won’t be a need for that.

I don’t know too much about technology and gigabytes, and so earlier on in the quarter, I made the mistake of purchasing a 16 GB SD card instead of a MICROSD card. I DID NOT know there was a difference — which in hindsight seems so obvious but I quite literally didn’t know. I need to make a trip to the Best Buy (I came to my hometown for the long weekend) and buy the correct size. Hopefully there’s no more hurdles or bumps after that!

My week was a bit uneventful — I got sick with something on Monday and didn’t feel good at all until Tuesday, but this caused me to miss Cog*nate Collective — but I did finally go through my piece and make final edits. All that’s left is to record.
