After looking back at the reviews from peers, I feel a great sense of relief over the fear that I had about my piece. My piece was different in that it was more informative, with lots of information, while my peers did more poems and different language pieces regarding their lives, families, trauma, etc. When I presented it, my class seemed very ecstatic or fascinated to read about this particular mammal that I love. Many of my peers pushed for keeping the poetry because it somehow added a layer of sentiment and emotion, a connection between myself and orcas. So I decided to keep the poetry and added an extra layer of information to my piece. In the end, I added a dedication to my family because I felt that even if it was for a final class, my parents were always supportive of my interest in orcas and marine life since I was five years old. This serves as them seeing how far I have come regarding my passion for the sea and what I hope to achieve with my career.
