Finally reaching the end of the overall project, I think I can say for certain that I would have approached things differently with the knowledge that I have after completing it. I think something that I struggle with in projects and assignments that have a lot of creative freedom is finding an exact form or style to execute. I think what I had in mind for the content of my final project was a good start to have, but ultimately the execution for it could’ve been better. I think editing my story to be a more cohesive narrative could’ve enhanced the quality of my project overall, and the small revisions I had might’ve not been enough to fully capture what I had set out to do when I created my draft. In honesty the reason why I didn’t revise my piece even after realizing some of the faults of the project was simply because I was burnt out on working on it and had wanted to just submit the best product/recording from what I already had.
Originally I had recorded my audio through my earbuds in Price Center as I wanted the ambience of Price to be included, but after I had handed over the SD card to my partner, I discussed how I was unhappy with the quality of the recording. My partner then suggested that I could use a recorder that they could procure from the media lab so I could record the next day. Recording the piece overall had been very laborious for me and despite being exhausted from trying to get things to a presentable level, I still decided to re-record the next day. The following day after a three hour-long process of acquiring the recorder, I was able to put together something that I was only slightly happier with than my original recording. Despite my own negative perceptions on my project, I do believe it’s an earnest attempt at trying to create something meaningful in regards to the content we’ve covered in class. In order to supplement my piece, I’m thinking of adding signage as a way to provide more context of the ideas and themes my projects present.
