Week 10 Journal/Blogpost – Alonzo Canete

My project is officially set up now within the depths of the Jacobs School of Engineering. Everything seems to be working correctly with the radio station, so thank you to my partner Cuong for working on that. I know he was a little stressed out between making both my radio station as well as his own. However, if he reads this, I just want you to know that you did a really good job and I appreciate the work you put into it. My only real concern is if the location I’ve chosen is able to transmit radio waves in an effective manner. It’s located on the bottom floor of Jacobs within a lab room, so radio signals may be hard to capture to outsiders. If that’s the case, then they will be able to listen to my audio file down below.

I am quite surprised with how varied the locations of other projects are. I’ve seen projects located as far out as Scripps Institute of Oceanography and the Medical Campus. If I had known this, I probably would have considered one of this places instead of the one I settled with. Thank you to my roommate Brandon for allowing me to use his lab room as a safe haven for my project.

As the quarter comes to a close, I find myself feeling the days slip by rather quickly. Commencement is in about a week and a half, and just yesterday it felt like it was a year away. I’m not sure whether or not I feel happy or sad, honestly I feel a little bit of both. I’m excited to see what the world has to offer but I am also sad at leaving what I have right now. Either way, I’m glad for the experiences that I’ve had in both in this class and throughout my final weeks at this school. I’m glad classes like these have allowed me to explore my more creative side and share it with the rest of the world.
