‘Dying Words’ is a kinetic and audio-based radio sculpture that focuses on how humans deal with death and questions if an artificial intelligence based on human knowledge would deal with death in a similar way to us. The project looks at the end of a dilapidated automaton’s life as it slowly tears itself apart and screams out in Morse code its “dying words”. With this project, I also wanted to bring up questions such as the basic rights and needs of autonomous life forms. Inherently asking questions of morality in the creation, destruction, or neglect of an automaton- additionally, the environmental impact that these can have.
