Using random.org, I randomized a set of notes to emulate the sound of an incarnate God, as Cthulu is. Much like these ancient Gods, random.org uses atmospheric noise, the indescribable aspects of our planet, as the basis by which to generate truly random numbers. The incomprehensible nature of the Elder Gods is matched by the incomprehensible nature of atmospheric noise, a noise which much like cult rituals, can only be somewhat understood through visual models by us mere mortals. The villagers who summon said Gods are like us, trying to summon atmospheric data through meek mathematical models. I chose a Cane’s cup as a my totem, the idol by which we summon these ancient Gods, for the chicken sacrificed daily in our consumerist society will serve as sacrifice to the Elder Gods. Our need for mindless consumption has created a society that must be purified through havoc, through sacrifice, for it is in the arrival of the ancient beings that our world must be saved by allowing the ancients to do away with humanity, so humanity does not do away with nature through consumerism. To insure the arrival of the ancient Gods, this sacrificial ritual object was placed in the contemplation lounge, UCSD’s holiest site, so that the prayers of the ancients may be channeled through and to the rest of campus. Let us call back the Elder Gods, channel their energy into this world so we may cleanse it of the filth of humanity.
