Radio Chthulucene 87.9 FM

This radio station brings out the sounds and aesthetics of rats! The environment my radio is placed in invokes the images of bustling industrialization and pallets of grime. The mechanical pipes and mechanisms produce an aura in conjunction with the audible soundscapes of rat radio that induces emotions inspired by fear and disgust. My audio pattern was devised to mimic the sounds that rats make. My code was adjusted to produce high pitch sounds at a random repeating frequency. The randomness and chirpy high pitch noise was intended to follow the similar patterns of noises produced by rats. The design of the box uses felt fabrics to replicate the fur of the rat and completely immerses the station into the space in order to build the theme of the grimey rat radio. The textures feel out of place and uncomfortable when interacting them, further increasing the uneasy presence emanating from the site. The red eyes add to this detail as well.
