“Shooting Star” is an installation artwork that blends visual and auditory elements. My primary intention with this piece is to explore the fleeting yet beautiful moments in life. The inspiration for this work comes from iKON’s “Love Scenario,” and the radio installation samples this song. Its sentimental lyrics and captivating melody depict how the scenes of love are short-lived yet precious. These fleeting moments of beauty are worth cherishing.
For the visual design, I chose to use green fluffy pipe cleaners arranged to resemble a grassy field, symbolizing nature and vitality. This choice was not merely to create a visually pleasing environment but also to convey the idea of life’s persistent vitality. Scattered across this “grassy field” are yellow plastic stars, representing shooting stars—those brief and brilliant moments. Each star symbolizes an unforgettable experience, a memory worth treasuring.
“Shooting Star” is a manifestation of a life attitude I strive to adopt. Just as shooting stars are transient yet beautiful, our lives are filled with ephemeral moments of beauty. I hope that both I and the viewers of this piece can find our own shooting star in this vibrant “grassy field,” cherishing the present moments and not regretting them after they are gone. As the Roman poet Horace said, “Carpe Diem.” Through this artwork, I also hope we can learn to discover and appreciate every beautiful moment in life with a fresh perspective, fostering a deeper love for life.
I placed this radio in the Black Hall. It is securely enclosed in a sealable box. Many thanks to my friend for providing this place! This course has taught me a lot, and Finally, happy end of the quarter!
