I finally had the opportunity to look through all the feedback I received during the workshop. A lot of it was really helpful in revising my original project idea. I initially had various positions and questions I wanted to explore, but I realized that my ideas were all over the place. For this project, something more focused would be better. That way, I could really dive into the issue and convey my message to the reader/listener. That is the main criticism I took from the workshop. There were many conversations I wanted to have, but I was approaching it in a very surface-level way. Because of the feedback, I was able to commit to one idea, that being language, in hopes of getting higher-quality answers out of participants in my survey. I’m still in the middle of drafting the questions, but I’m much more confident how they’ll help the reader articulate themselves. I find this entire process of drafting questions interesting because there are obviously answers I’m looking for and questions I could personally elaborate on. But, there certainly is a skill for formulating questions in a way that is intuitive and engaging to the reader. I’m working through that now and it’s difficult, but fun. I hope that when I share this survey, people will be able to share their experiences well and it fosters a good conversation.
