The reading for this week was Diggs “TwERK” which was so impressive with how she was able to incorporate so many different languages in and of itself. It went in so many different directions, from Spanish to Native languages that I didn’t really know what was going on in each piece only that it really makes me question the ways in which language itself can be a tool for pushing a narrative. I think that if one wanted to, they could learn to write in more than one language. English is the dominant language because that is what is normalized in our everyday but the world is so much bigger than just English-speaking. I think there is so much one could learn from other cultures, if one wanted to. I know I wanted to question my culture but in recent weeks I keep thinking about why I was so reluctant to learn Vietnamese. Maybe that was because I didn’t want to, or because it was harder to learn.
But I think that the radio transcript should incorporate more than one language, as inspired by Diggs. I want to include some Vietnamese and some English. Though I don’t know where I want to put the radio yet. I think about my dorm, since that would be closest to me and be most convenient.
